Also keep in mind that the sks has some characteristics that are... in many opinions... better than the AK... I like the longer barrel and sighting radius as it seems I can't be more precise...

I would be quick about it, maso157.

In this area (the southwest), supplies of semi-autos (especially my favorite, the SKS) are drying up, and prices are going higher on everything. My Saiga .223 is now $459. I gave $379 two months ago. Looks like the pre-election scare is building already.

I did see a well-worn Chinese with numbers matching and bayo/cleaning rod for $300. I may go back and get it before someone else does.

id depends on what part of the country you live in
the cost of living in these areas also dictates prices
in my area I can get a SKS for around 175 to 300 depending on the condition.

Yeah. Oddly enough I can only find one gun show in my state even though everyone and their sister here owns a gun

Gun shows and pawn shops will be the place to get the best prices on all types and models of firearms.
I personally will not buy a modern firearm on line except for maybe a new 1858 new army Remington copy Pietta from Cabelas.
shipping and handling charges FFL holder fees can make the cost of the purchase jump up significantly not to mention the on line price is higher than what I can buy locally.
