Sks feed issues
 

So I have a Chinese SKS that will cycle FMJ rounds all day with no issues yet it won't load any HP or SP rounds. Anyone have any advice here? I've never owned an SKS before so I don't know all the ins and outs.

It's designed for FMJ. You could try Hornaday ballistic tips. They should feed more like a FMJ profiled bullet. Not cheap though.

I wish I could help you out. My Norinco SKS feeds everything I have put into to it. This includes the following:

Tula FMJ
Wolf WPA FMJ & HP
Herters 154gr SP
Silverbear HP & SP

is it all original or did u add detachable mags and if so wat brand of magazine

I will definitely try the Hornady rounds as I bought the gun just to use as a cheap hog gun. Are they V-Max tips?? I shoot V-Max, GMX and SST in my bolt rifles and my M4.

Excellent point. Many after market mags cause more problems than they are worth. In an SKS I tend to stick to the stock mag and avoid the headaches.

One is a steel 30 round magazine and I picked up a couple TAPCO 20 round magazines

Most likely this is the source of your problems. See if you can find an original military 10 round mag. They tend to be the most reliable mag available for the SKS.

like he said get an original mag. the only other mags that are even slightly worth buying is the tapcos. but if you want it to work consistently then bite the bullet and go back to the standard mag

Yea I read up on the TAPCO mags. It works flawlessly with FMJ for me. I picked up some Hornady SSTs today so I'll try them out next time I get to the range. Thanks for all the help gents.
