I imagine you could pick up one in decent shape for $275.

Get a shotgun news magazine, there are several ads that run all the time with several different sks variants. You'd have to find someone with an ffl to do a transfer to get it though.

I have a Yugo sks BTW, its approximately a 1978 and shoots great. Yugos are easy to spot because they have a grenade launcher on the barrel and are equipped with flip up grenade sights.

Also if you decide to go with a sks don't bother with detachable mags, I've had 3 or 4 of them and none of them worked as advertised. I wouldn't waste your money on them.

Buds has early production Chinese Type 56 SKS for $265.00 but they may be in a little rougher shape than what you are looking for.

I'm just looking for one that shoots fine, the cosmetics really are not an issue to me as long as it fires just fine without any problems I'm good.
