Default Sks or ak47

I want a 7.62x39 for my next buy!! I was thinking either a ak47 or a sks. I know they are both great rifles but need alittle help. I like the fact that the sks has the long barrel to reach out an touch but the ak is smaller an lighter an just a more simple gun to operate!! Please share your opinions

The SKS has a milled receiver and is a better rifle IMO. Pretty much all AK's have stamped receivers.

Moved your thread to the right area- you posted under site layout suggestions.

As far as your question- tastes great/ less filling. Depends on what floats your boat.

Do you want something you are going to tac out and put high cap mags and optics on? If you want tactical go AK. If you just want a solid fun rifle in stock form, go SKS.

I have both. Love both. Dependability is what counts in the final second. And both can be counted on having just that.

Have had 2 Chinese SKS's for many years and in the last year picked up a Saiga Russian AK IN 7.62X39.
Like all 3 but have always been a fan of Mike Kalashnikov after having some close up and personal experience on both ends of one so I'm going with the AK47. :

Like it or not, when the chips are down and lives are at stake, an armed citizen can be the "first responder." People who donít like guns invariably rely on people who have guns when their lives are in danger.

I have an SKS but do not own an AK although I have shot several. I think the over all construction of the SKS is far better than any AK I have ever shot. Not that there are not some good ones out there, but for quality vs price I would go for the SKS. As said above it really depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to tac it out then go AK, If you want something that is a blast to shoot and will fire every time go for SKS.

Get an SKS while you still can. The well is drying up.

If you decide you like an AK when you try somebody

else's AK later, they will always be around.

I was at a LGS today. Dozens of AKs, scores of ARs.

Not 1 SKS.
