Default sks or ak?

For a fun rifle to mostly do target shooting with should i go for the sks or an AK? I was initially thinking an AK but the SKS is hard to pass up for the price. Opinions?

Either one you can get your hands on at this point. I prefer the sks.

I like my SKS. Of course, the internal mag they come with might be of benefit if a ban passes those fools in DC.

My sks has always been more "fun" to shoot, imo.

The SKS has a milled receiver and a little longer barrel. It's a littler heavier and a bit more solid than the AK.

The AK has a stamped receiver and tolerances are not as tight when compared to the SKS.

Tolerances are as tight. But the AK has more clearances.

I find that my SKS allows me to reach out and touch something at longer ranges due to the slightest longer length in sight radius. And it is a hoot to shoot, feels a lot more rifle-like than my AKs.

Not ready to ditch my AKs, but the SKS would be the next-to-last of the 7.62x39 guns to go.

I sold the one and only AK I ever had. Don't miss it one bit. Can't say the same about my SKS. No comparison between the two for me. In fact, I am planning on picking up another SKS. But I am glad there are those that like the AK's more, because that leaves more SKS's for me.
