Scoping my sks
Well guys i am going to apologize now, I know there are topics discussing this but can anyone fill me in on what products i should look for and what i should stay away from? I want it to hold zero and be durable.

Sorry for being lazy guys but i was hoping to get some feed back and possibly a few photos of some sks's with scopes on them.

I was not able to get satisfied with either of the receiver cover scope mounts i tried. The best way is to mount a rail on the side of the receiver & use a POSP type of scope mount. MOLOT SKS Original Rail with Rivets

Alternatively, there is the Choate mount, but i think it makes takedown more difficult.

I decided to leave mine optic free for the moment and just switched to a peep sight from tech sights.

There is also a mount that attaches to the rear sight, "scout" style.

Of course, if you have the Tapco railed gastube cover, you could put a red dot or a reflex sight up there. (goofy looking, IMO)

I agree with using the PSOP I have a 4-24 on my AK.:)

Years ago when I first became interested in AK and SKS rifles, I did some research on scoping an SKS. What I learned was that the SKS was never designed for a scope with the result being there is no really effective way of mounting a scope, including all of the after-market mounts.

orangello is offering the best advice: just use Tech Sights (SKS Sights).

Here is an article worth reading about scoping an SKS:

Boyer, don't buy a receiver cover; if you get desperate enough for a scope to try that, PM me & you can try out one of the two receiver cover mounts i wasted money on. :)
