So, I just recently purchased a Saiga IZ132SM 7.62x39 and after purchasing the gun I had forgot that the Saiga only accepts the dreaded $35 a piece magazine. After reading conversions and all and everyone yelling 922r compliance law, I had went to my friends house who is prominent with the AR-15 but has a few AK mags but didn't believe that my Saiga only takes Saiga mags, so we tested a 100 round AK drum... it fit flawlessly with no wiggle and feed perfectly! All within the laws! After more research the IZ132SM comes stock with the correct bullet guide trunnion to accept the 14 dollar AK mags! A huge relief that I don't need to spend an arm and leg for conversions and magazines haha and for proof I bought the rifle Tuesday as it sits in the picture on the top and the second is with a 100 rnd AK drum.
As far as I know, all Saigas were imported as. sporters. They always took the standard AK mags. The location of the trigger group is the main difference between it and an "AK".
Yours has been converted and must comply with section 922r. No more than 10 imported parts
In life, strive to take the high road....It offers a better field of fire.
