If you want a "Upscale" AK get a Arsenal.
Actually you can have an arsenal quality AK for half the price. Just buy a saiga rifle in caliber of your choice and buy the conversion kit from one of a few online dealers that offer them, and do the conversion yourself. End result is a high quality AK for 400 dollars less than an arsenal. The conversion is really quite simple and can be done with regular hand tools and a cordless drill.

Here's mine...

Saigas are new production, cosmoline has never touched it. And there is probably more questionable material in my bed sheets than gun oil.

Nice try pops

It's amazing that in 2008-2009 you could get WASRs regularly at Dunhams for under $300.00. Now they have occasional sales - like Black Friday - for under $400.00.

When the ATF forced the imported guns to have "new barrels" as opposed to NOS mil-surp barrels, the prices started upwards.

My Romanian WASR is still in holding (I'm in California, where every purchase is held for 10 days), but I can't wait to to take it for a spin!

I just got home from shooting mine. Most excellent. Fun, fun, Fun.

Bad reviews? I saw on the internet where a guy found one from under a glacier. Picked it up and fired that prehistoric sabertooth tiger killing gun. He said the model number was
Ak~47,000BC. Beat that for a review.

Seriously, nothing but good things to say about mine.
