Default Norinco AKM

I have a norinco NHM-91. It's a great gun has a 1.5 mil receiver and a heavy 21" barrel i love it. It's very well made and extremely accurate. Had a thumdhole stock i didn't care for it, so i put a buffer recoil collapsable stock,a tri rail lower foregrip, upper vented grip,a G2 tapco double hook trigger. My buddy's were shocked when they saw the groupings i was getting, right up there with th AR's at 100yds. And it's an AK"

I dunno, Norinco's decent quality, and fun to collect when

you can, but everybody else posting here is right.

There are a ton of combloc AKs just as good

as Norinco.

A few years from now (or months) they'll probably be

available again, anyway.

I totally agree. I was lucky to find my NHM-91 for $500. I had a sar-1 and never had a problem. It wasn't as accurate as this one, but not far behind.

The Ban has to do w/ the PLA. They want you to die, pretty simple. In the late 1980's a document was "uncovered" that showed a Chinese plan to wipe us out and use N. America to feed the population of China. The PLA was at the heart of the plan. No Nukes, just overwelm and enslave. Norinco is run by the PLA as are all the Chinese arsenals. Here is a later article.
Bush Ban on Chinese Imports

The reason the Chinese weapons were banned was to protect the American gun industry. If China sold AKs and other firearms for $100.00 each. (which would make them a fine profit) Remmy and Wimpchester would go belly up.

China got "lobbied" out of the American gun market.

Few things here....

Polytech and Norinco are basically the same... Just different factories with Polytech having a rep for more attention to detail and some better finishing, not a big deal to me. I'm not paying $1,500-$3,000 for a polytech when I can have the same gun made by Norinco.

Someone said something about the Norincos brought in that weren't Kengs Polytechs were the cheapest AKs? I beg to differ and highly disagree. All of the Norincos were imported to the USA by one importer or another, they are all Norincos thus all the same when it comes to build specs. Norinco didn't do anything more special for one importer than another.

Chinese AKs are def some of the nicest AK platforms out there. They are factory built like tanks. They have Chrome lined barrels unlike the Yugos. And they are regarded as having one of, if not the best FCG (trigger) of any AK variant.

Debanning them can be a major PITA if your anal or it can be easy if your not It can get very frustrating if your trying to locate all true and correct Chinese parts for the deban, trust me I know. But you can easily buy a type 1 Bulgarian FSB and GB and your bayo attachment is up and running...

I have several Chinese AKs... The top one in the attached pic is a Mak90 that was debanned with Bulgarian Parts. The lower is a Mak bebanned with true Chinese AKM FSB and GB.

The prices of Maks are going through the roof nowadays as they are true factory built military AKs that kick a$$. With a little bit of time and patience you can deban that Mak back to its former glory. Whether it be a spiker deban or bayo deban.

I think if SHTF I would grab one of my Maks over any of my other AKs.

Buy one

Just curious, I've noticed some pics show up in posts and others (like mine) you have to click on, in order to view, any reason for this?

Thats funny" i have a NHM-91 It appears to be very well made. I measured barrel from receiver and it measures 18", but i think it"s either a 20 or 21" barrel.Best i can tell it came into country in 93. By chance do you know anything about that model? It came with a thumbhole stock, i changed it out and put a kicklite w/buffer collaspable stock works real nice. I'm wondering when they were actually built, several people told me late 50's- 60's. When i looked at yours i almost wished i would have kept it all original, but i didn't like the thumbhole, any info much appreciated. Again those are some beautiful guns you have. Thanks
