Maximum effective range of a Well tuned Saiga, in 308, is about 500 yrds. I have a Saiga in 223, 7.62X39 and 308. All have 16" barrels. These rifles are not for long range. I have a Remington 700 ( 308 ) for longer ranges, All ammo is handloaded. The Saigas are fun to shoot, and if needed will do the job at medium to house to house. Also you just can't be the old 30.06 . If you can get your hands on a 338 or 416 that should take care of your long range........SHOOT OFTEN......Practice.....Practice.....Practice

I made a visit to the store in Baton Rouge on my last trip to the Ms. Gulf coast. The store is quite different then the show, no drama and all professional, but their products are way to costly for me.

I'd rather my own son see me die on my feet as a free man, than watch him go, broken, into slavery.

This sort of reminds me about something I read about Heard Stern a few years ago. The article said that people that like him listen to him 2 hours a day and the people that hate him listen for 8 hours a day to see what he is going to do next. LOL
