Red-dot on a SKS w/Tapco stock....worth it?

I was wondering if a red-dot sight on the rail mounted above the gas-tube on a SKS is usefull. Seems like that particular piece of plastic (excuse me...polymer....ITS STILL DAMN PLASTIC!!!) is not a very stable base for ANY sight....any help would be appreciated...suggestions for what all these tapco rails could be good for would also help.

Red dots seem to be a win, for me, with any carbine.

You can order a rear cover with a scope mount,

but you want to make sure it's tight.

I have seen first hand an sks modified with the Tapco kit and the guy who owned it had done a file and shim fit on his stock so the hand guard pressed firmly against the main stock providing great stability. He had a Millet red dot (model I dont know) on it and was probably popping off 2-2.5 MOA with Cabela's brand ammo... Not too shabby and it was certainly fun to feel "tacticool"...

I have an SKS with the full Tapco set up. The handguard moves a lot. I tried a red dot on mine. At 100 yards it was shooting what seemed like 3 foot groups. Mine was a terrible set up. I still use the rifle and stock. But I only use iron sights.

Interested in this, my cousin just Tapco'ed up his stock and he was thinking about a RDS.

If not a RDS, what scopes do you recommend?

I had an RDS on my Tapco handguard, I took it out one time and removed it.. it just sits too high, plus I just didn't care for it.
