Looking into some other red dots....anybody have any experience with these

If your planning on doing much 100 yard shooting, I would recommend something other than a red dot. At that distance, the dot is going to completely cover most targets that you would be shooting.

So a open sight would be best if I am going to stay under 200 yards?

i have found some pretty cheap...any particular brand or make that is preffered.

I actually hung onto the sites they sent me for review I liked them so much. I put them on my GSG-5 and my AR. They're very high quality, durable, simple and need no batteries.

my immediate recommendation would be the dogleg rail from texasweaponsystems.com, then i would get a Bushnell the 1" like the Micro T-1 that they have. it fits low, doesnt take up much space, is inexpensive, and once you have the rail mounted, it makes it easy to shoot, yet clean your rifle, and all it takes is removing and then replacing the same screw with a dab of lock tite. i have it on mine and i love it. Also, the AK lightning bolt is drop in part for your AK, coloradoshootingsports.com. i also have it and love it.

IF you have a side-rail the side rail picatinny mounts from UTG are decent, they hold their zero really well, was testing it on my last range trip and it held up through heavy recoil and what not.
I'm assuming you might since the red-dot you posted was to attach to the side-rail.
There are several other ways to put a red-dot or scope on your Ak other than the side rail. One way is the Krebs custom over-the-dustcover picatinny rail they have.
