Right now that's not a bad price if it has a good fit and finish and you like it Go for it. The AK platform is extremely reliable and 7.62x39 ammo is reasonably priced.

If I was in your position, which I am, I would decide not to buy the WASR. I would be, and actually am, looking for the AK74 in 5.45x39. Maybe Arsenal. I'm going to the lgs next week

Have you dealt with the Hungarian and Bulgarian AK types? I'd like to know where you got this information.

Where did I got this information?Pretty simplen the field. As you know, befor the Yugo wars, Serbia has disarmed Croatia, Slovenia a Bosnia.Since the TOs(territorjalna obramba=territorial defence forces) were badly equipped, they were forced to buy some AKs on the black market. In Slovenia, the rifle of choice was the Wasr(known as vaserka), in croatia the amd65 and 63.In bosnia...well...everything that was available, including many bulgarian pieces.Suprinsingly, the m70 was fielded only by Serbians or used by the other factions after being captured.

Thought something was off here. Bosnia! In this country the Bulgarian arsenals have a good reputation, reflected in their market prices. You know we are talking semiautos not real AKs right? The AMDs I've dealt with were also good, though not a choice of any "security personnel". Overseas in full auto, be as it may.

Buy assembled items from Century at your own peril. If you go Galil stay with IMI (made in Israel) but the price is very high. As for AKs, it's Arsenal guns all the way. They are about a grand but worth it.
A Galil and a Golani is totally different. Dont be fooled into thinking a Golani by Century Arms is a real Galil.

Well...frankly speaking, Bosnia was "something different".In Bosnia one of the main rifles were mainly the m48 and the M59/66.The muslims introduced several other small arms, everything that was usuable(I can send you some pictures that show bosnians that hold Mauser k98).I can tell a couple of stories regards the bulgarian ak in Bosnia.
