PSL AKM Hybrid

I took some pics of this PSL AKM hybrid with my phone while I was waiting to pick up my RIA 9mm 1911. The owner said that he had it custom made using both PSL and AK parts kits. It looks pretty interesting. I dig the front FSB/GB Draco style combo.

I was thinking same thing, looks like somebody tried to bling it out or something.

I'm in the minority on this forum, I likey blingy.

It's probably hard chromed. Classic Arms sometimes sells Romanian AK's that they have had hard chromed. They would look good IMO with black poly furniture.

Yeah but they don't have black poly. It looks tacky. Not bad if it were black though.

Never Forget.

That looks like one of those things that makes me go "Hmm..."
On one hand the idea of a big bullet with lots of powder behind it with a short barrel sounds awesome, but you have a lot of unburnt powder left over (power you could have had with just a little more barrel length)

My question is how much more worse is the kick with the shortened barrel compared to a normal PSL?
Tampering with the gas block placement can mess with timing and beat the fire out of a receiver, especially with a x54R chambering. While I'm sure it still has the "AK reliability" because the gas is runnig at full bore, I'm sure the recoil from it is brutal if it wasnt taken into consideration, or am I wrong in my thinking?
I remember reading reports of that causing some of the issues with the move to the M4's shortened gas system over the rifle length M16s, the same thing happened when DSA shortened their gas systems on the FALs.
