Opinions on jersey legal WASR 10

1 Attachment(s)
I'm 16 but I have grown up around guns my whole life. Recently I learned about the civilian version of the AK and that I could purchase a jersey legal WASR 10 up in PA where I go frequently for only between $350 and $400. I plan on (obviously) having my father purchase the rifle for me with my money. I then, plan to purchase a Sampson free floating full length rail system for $200 and then id get a magpul single point sling, angled foregrip, small aimpoint (micro I believe its called), and a small light. In the end I expect it to look a little something like this:

Attachment 53183

(I am only allowed to have the 10 round mags here and no collapsible o foldable stock)
I would just like some opinions and/or suggestions for me about the gun and the attachments I will be getting. I also forgot to mention id get some magpul rail covers. I can not take the laws here in new jersey their completely rediculous and pointless and I could just go to either NY or NJ and just about whatever I want but I'm not 18 and Im not getting my parents in trouble.

Could be wrong? But I'm almost positive that your father is not gonna be able to buy a rifle in PA if he's not a PA resident?

Most likely hell have to an FFL do transfer that's If you can find an FFL in NJ to transfer it. Another problem is New Jersey is a non friendly sport rifle state so it seems, so buying a rifle off the shelf in PA most likely it's not gonna be NJ compliant. Which would add another fee to some sorts to make NJ friendly if even possible? Also pending how new is the WASR? And does your state have a pre 94 assault weapons ban? Like NY where I live. Any rifle newer than 94 here can't have bayonet lug, flash hider and or threaded muzzle and so forth? But in the end of all things, be careful and pay attention to laws!

Just to set the record straight on a few things:

A NJ resident can purchase a longarm out of state just like everyone else, that's a Federal law. Only NJ specific requirement is that the buyer have a valid FOID and sign a Certificate of Eligibility.

That being said the gun and magazines must adhere to NJ law and that is where the issue is, specifically with a WASR and/or an AK47. The NJ AWB, there is no pre_ban grandfathering in NJ, prohibits "AK47 type" firearms. Its the vagueness of that language that is troublesome, what is AK47 type?

BTW...mags are limited to 15 rounds, not 10.

There may be the answer you need. As far as putting rail system on your WASR it may be tricky finding something that could fit fell with out adjustments(unless you have the means to do so than it may be no trouble) With my GP WASR 10/63 I searched through amazon for a rail set up that was reviewed by others who got to fit with the same rifle I had.

If you really enjoy shooting, do you really want to let NJ

suck all the fun out of your shooting for the rest of your

life?

There's great guns just across the border in PA,

but you could go to any of dozens of states where

the authorities don 't sanctimoniously treat you

like you're three,

just because you like shooting.

You did ask...
