You are right about the bullet guide. However, I have had success in a modificaition to the mags if you want to go that route. I have not checked them in a non-Saiga afterwards though. You can remove some material from the inside front of the top of the mag(feed lips). Take a little off at a time. The theory is getting the bullet to aim up while coming out of the mag. If you load a round in the mag and use your finger to extract the round you can see you you can adjust the angle with taking off material. I have done this to 4 mags and have not had one jam yet. The right way to do it is install the bullet guide and I would recommend doing that.
