Never held an AK
 

I got quite a bit of cash saved up so I'm going on a massive gun buy :P anyways, looking for a decent entry level AK, preferably in 7.62x39 but will consider 5.45x39....really new to this so go easy on me

I'd say it depends on if you prefer less recoil, or more

realistic in an AKM.

The 7.62 is the original round(M43) going back to pre-Korea.

The 5.45 emulates the 5.56, and has similar recoil.

47 is nice, x39 is a good round, you'll be happy with the gun.
74 is nice 5.45 is a good round, you'll be happy with the gun.
Buy both, you'll be happy with your purchases.

You'll be happy with both choices. Both great guns. My opinion is that each AK is worth their price. Whether it's Russian, Chinese, Yugoslavian, Romanian, Polish, and so on. You will be happy with your purchase.

Now youl need to get the RPK with as many drums as you can find. Its worth it.

OP, the new M10 series is a great bang for the buck rifle. I'd also consider buying a saiga and converting it. Little more work, but the russian rifles usually have a nicer fit and finish.
