Showed up last night at my FFL. It's better than I expected. Sight appears to be centered and the guts were clean. Lots of cosmo in there, but some DeepKreep and elbow grease later and it's clean and ready to go to the range.

Already pricing the synthetic stock sets. Plan is to spend some cash on a 74-type flash hider and some good mags first. Then I'll start messing with the furniture.

I've wondered how the stock on a WASR would look if it was smoothed and stained. The wood grain looks pretty good, it's just rough.

My brother picked up two with me, so I plan on using one of his sets to stain. He had the K-var stuff ordered before he even had the rifles.

Range report is GOOD! She cycles fine and only had two Fail to Feeds. Both cases were some old Hollow point 7.62 a buddy gave me.

Both mags that came with it fit snug and have minimal wobble. Both cycle fine.

It was actually more accurate than expected. The length of pull is odd sinse I'm used to a AR, but I'll get used to it or get a NATO stock.

All in all, this is a great Bang for Buck little rifle.

It's not called plywood, it's called a laminated stock. It is the same concept/process as plywood, but technically, they didn't just use a bunch of plywood sheets bought from Home Depot.

It's cheaper than using big chunks of wood, and cheap is the name of the game with AK's...

There is none. It came with a Tapco G2 trigger installed.

Just for looks, I polished the carrier.






I'm looking for a 1" extension for the stock and may have settled for this ugly monster:


1. to keep cost down.
2. appears to be more comfortable.
3. easily removed
4. I plan on staining the wood red.

Opinions?
