You can mount a red dot or reflex sight on the rail.

I suppose you could stick an MBUS on there and see how it worked, but I would be skeptical.

well, here is your dilemma. yes that rail looks like it would except sights, or optics just fine. however its so far forward you will need to really consider what you want. a red dot or eotech is probly going to be your best bet. you can also look into a scout style mount and scope. that should work just fine also. as far as open sights. it would be like trying to shoot a pistol, short sight radius and far out from your eye. id stay away from that.

something like this for a scope.

check google for photos of ak's with eotechs.

as far as being pinned or not there is always a way to take things off.. but your best bet is to have a certified gunsmith do the work if it is pinned... i could be wrong but i would imagine you would be able to unscrew it yourself if it is not pinned.

Looks like there are wrench flats or divots cut into that flash hider, so I would guess it threads on.

Looks like an AR transplant flash hider. I don't know if it is screwed onto the muzzle end. But yes, if it is pinned, you can unpin it.

You can mount any AR optics on the top Picatinny rail.
