Just finished refinishing my old MISR Maadi.

The whole rifle was disassembled except the FCG and all metal parts were reconditioned and refinished with a tough Mate Black Hi temp coating.

The wood furniture was reconditioned too, I went with the black theme so it was black tinted and 10 coats of Polyurethane were layered to achieve a glossy weatherproof finish.

You really did a quality job in your restoration. How does it shoot? I'd love to hear if you've had a chance to take it out.

This fellow at a local shop has had one for 18 months THAT I KNOW OF sitting on his rack. The tag STILL says something around $550 or more.

I've told him that I would really like it for my collection (without sounding desperate) and mentioned that I could probably cough up $400 for it. So far he hasn't even come close to biting.

I like those Maadi AK's I about bought one a while back but couldn't get right with the seller on a price.

You did good on this one. I have refinished a few over the years but never thought about black wood. It's definitely got me thinking about doing one similar. Maybe the next AK purchase.I've been wanting another one or two a while anyway and this makes for a good excuse.

Make me feel bad that I have two boxes full of new parts and furniture sitting under my desk here to re-do a couple of my AK's. Both boxes covered in dust.

I have shot this one many times over the yrs, it shoot every crappy ammo I feed to it, even misfires from a friends mini30 and have always gone bang.

It's not a tack driver, but will make 3"-4" groups at 100 yds of the shoulder, probably can make better with a scope, just my tired eyes are hard to focus.

For a tack driver I got the SLR 101 Bulgarian that is the king of the stable.
