Yugoslavians, and Hungarians and even Egyptian make great Aks.

I would avoid the century arms AKs. Lots of feeding issues

Bulgarians are pretty good, much better than the chinese, but not as good as the Yugo's

In the last 20 years I have owned 15-20 AK's from cheap WASR's to Arsenals. The ONLY one I ever had problems with was Arsenal......go figure.
A WASR will serve you fine for about $450-$525. $600 will get you a folding stock M70AB2 IMO the best folder made.

Everyone and their brother is buying this one right now, buy it now and secure the price and they'll ship it asap.

Well there's a few decent ones out there, for between 800-1200 I would try to find a norinco or polytech, bulgarians and yugos are pretty nice also. Egyptian myaadis would be high on that list. arsenal makes the saiga conversions to higher specifications and tolerences I believe. I'd check pawnshops in the area. Sometimes they get stuff there not exactly sure what they have you can fins something nice sometimes.
