Default Installing stock SKS magazine ?

I removed the stock (load from the top of rifle) "fixed" magazine from my Chinese SKS about 20 years ago, so that I could use removable higher capacity magazines. Now, I want to go back to the original "fixed" magazine.
Surprisingly, I found the old stock-issue magazine....now I can't remember how to re-install it. So far, I'm thinking that I first "hook" the front part of the stock magazine....then try to get the rear section to go in. It goes so far...then there is a "bump" on the sheet metal of the rear of the magazine that stops it. Seems to me I have to just pop or even force it the last 1/4 inch until it is "home". Is this how it's done? Thanks for any help.

You will have to take out the trigger group first. There is a tab behind the trigger group that you have to release. You take out the trigger group and them slide in the magwell In ,front first. Then you slide the front of the trigger group over it and pressimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1392002389.361513.jpgimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1392002399.595286.jpg the tab in and lock it into place if I remember right. I just rebuilt mine a few months ago.

The safety must be engaged in order to reinsert the trigger group.

Semper Fi to you too!
