How to put factory SKS magazine in?
I bought a factory SKS 10 round fixed magazine to put in my SKS and it won't go in but I can get the aftermarket in just fine. Why is this?

A fixed magazine is meant to stay in the gun and be fed from the top. Some SKS have been converted to accept detachable magazines. If this is the case, a fixed magazine will not work.

Post a pic of the gun and fixed magazine. And whatever magazine came with the gun

Reinstalling a factory fixed magazine requires removal of the trigger group. Their is a button behind the trigger guard. Push it in hard at about 45 degrees "toward the chamber". The trigger group will pop free and rock out of position. Install the fixed mag and reinstall the trigger group. Good Luck...;) Tack |
Doh how could I of forgotten that Tackle. :o .

Hahaha yes. I took the trigger group out. I put the magazine in, put the trigger group back in and the front part of the magazine keeps falling out.

Never mind I got it in my SKS I cycled dummies through it ten times and it worked flawlessly. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8233/8...c65af51e_c.jpg

I figure you'd get it...
Those factory fixed mags must be inserted at the front, then rocked up into position just like the aftermarket detachables. Simply pushing them straight in prevents the forward angle on the front of the mag strap from locking into it's mating surface in the receiver. ;) Tack |
Yeah the fixed magazine is much better.
