There are conversion kits that will accept AK mags, but I understand that they can be finicky. There are also modified magazines that allow you use an SKS specific detachable magazine.

SKS Magazines

Galati International Online: SKS Steel High Capacity Magazines - 20 and 30 round

If you decide on looking into the AK mag conversion, you would need to be in compliance with Title 18 USC, Chapter 44, Section 922(r).

Or....go here and live in peace. I have used these mags myself and have had no problems what so ever, and they are very reliable, the choice is yours.

SKS HITECH Mag -- You decide! (High Capacity Magazine)

The answer is no... dont ruin your rifle trying to make it into something that ist isnt. There is the SKS-D SKS-M that takes factory ak mags. You may want to try that route if you must have a high cap.

tapo 20rnd. mags work well but with the "duckbill" they are kinda bulky and hard to find a mag pouch for.you can find them all over the internet for under $20 each.

I would agree with the guy who said to find an SKS that is made to accept AK magazines. I'm sure you and many others are well aware that there are SKS's made with AK receivers on them built to take AK mags. Buddy of mine has an SKS with a 40-round banana clip on it.

I use the tapco duckbills & one metal 30 rounder; they work well but are an odd shape.
