Default Bulged Trunnion - Threaded Barrel

I have an old Yugo AK-47 under folder kit that's been sitting in the basement. It has a bulged trunnion and threaded barrel. The original receiver was a stamped one so I was going to make a new one for it. I'm an aircraft sheetmetal tech so that won't be hard at all.

What are the advantages/disadvantages to this style or model? Is it a good design? Durable? Flimsy?

Thanks

I had a bulged trunnion once. A little physical therapy as well as vitamins and I was fine...

Mine's a pre-ban, but they're all built like tanks with longer forends and folding stocks for us bigger guys.

So basically it is a stronger design? I know they used bulged trunnions on the PSL because they needed to beef it up to handle the larger barrel and such.
