Nor that 20 rnd integral mag. I have one. No you can't buy it. But as the firm I bought the SKS from said "they are crap." The are unreliable replacements (though I live in hope od dismantling it and polishing every surface, besides it looks cool).

As the rep I bought the rifle from told me all those years ago now when I asked if he had the extended mag: "Look, if they worked, I'd sell them. And you'd buy them. They don't. You STILL would. But I WON'T!"

I love the SKS. My dads had one since before the beginning of time (for me anyway). It beats the AK in my opinion. Never got one myself because of the price, my dad told me he got his for $150 22 years ago, now I don't see them for less than $440. A missed opportunity for me. I know it's not my fault for having been born at the time I did, but I'm still kicking myself for it!

I want either less corruption or more opportunity to participate in it.

Hey, I have a '69 Yugo 59/66 that came on the import with the mount holes and an extended butt pad. For completeness, I would love to find a ZRAK ON-2 scope (never happen though). The question from another site is with the extended butt pad if it was swapped out for a ZRAK M76.

I hear Tapco makes a 20 rd mag that works well with the SKS that doesn't have the problems others have had. Im gonna try one out if I can find one and report back.

While I have to agree they are better than an AK, I'd advise seeking

a clean SKS with the original stock, bayonet, and cleaning rod.

If you get all matching serial #s on the bolt, mag, dust cover and

receiver, you should come out OK on price, even if you think it's a

little high.

Well, with it being better than the AK, I guess that might be my emotional attachment talking a little =)

My SKS is now in a Tapco stock and feeds fine from the Tapco 20 round removable mags. I'm not sure how well they work with other stocks.

For me, it's experience. My AKM is a safe queen. I'm a collector, so I'll never

get rid of it. But I haven't fired it in years. It's got a stamped receiver,

and a mediocre sight radius, for a rifle.

I use my SKSs all the time. They have milled receivers, a better

sight radius, and much better balance.

My thoughts on the SKS? Pretty much what Therewolf said.

These are highly under-rated and undervalued guns. When the world wakes up, the $400.00 SKS would have been a bargain...
