I am looking for an affordable AK that is still a good brand. Any suggestions?

I know a lot of people here like century arms.

I would stay away from century arms built AKs. They're mass produced and inconsistent in quality. I shot my buddies WASR by century arms and the parts didn't fit together tightly and it wasn't very accurate. Ive got a zastava pap m70 made in Serbia (yugo). They shipped it to the US where century arms widened the mag well to fit 30 rd double stack magazines but that's it. The gun itself wasn't built by century arms. I like it a lot.
Mine is medium price and very well built. Everything fits tightly and it takes 30 rd magazines. I've got an Eotech 512 holographic sight with no magnification and shot 5 groups of 3 shots. 2 groups were < 3 inches and 3 groups were less than 2 inches.

I had a norinco mak 90.. Which is basically a ak but with a different buttstock.. Bought it at a gunshow for 199.00 back in 1991(during the clinton assault weapon ban) that rifle never jammed or misfired on me. 3" groups at 50 yards .. I traded it a few years ago for a ruger blackhawk 45 colt.

Affordable? Give us a price range so we can give you a better answer. If you're thinking $500 or less then I'd say WASR (which will look more like an AK) or Saiga.

Give him a call he might have just what you're looking for. He had a pre-ban ak last time I was there for around $400.

J&G Sales has the CAI Yugo builds for $650.00. They are built on thicker, heavier gage receivers, and have much nicer stocks than the Romanian WASR guns do. In quality I would put them above any WASR, and below a VEPR Russian gun. I have 2 Yugo Underfolders from them, and both are well made weapons that do nothing but run. Another good buy if it's still avaliable are the 1960 Polish Milled Receiver Models. I picked up a couple of those last year. Both them and the Yugo's are good, solid rifles. Milled receiver AK-47's are becoming more scarce and expensive every year.

i have a WASR and i can attest to its inaccuracy. lol could be my lack of shooting time with it as its new to me. it did function just fine no jams or hang ups. i was hittin a 10 in steel clanger at 50yards almost every shot... on paper it kinda looked like i shot a shotgun. but like i said. could just be my inexprience with it so far.. but it was the cheapest avalable to me at 650
