I just got my first SKS. The wife picked it up for me yesterday as a late Christmas present (we don't exchange gifts, we wait until tax time and get something we wouldn't normally buy at any other time of the year). It is an early production (post Russian style S\N) built at the Jianshe Arsenal Sometime between late 1956 and 1958. It approximately #2,400,000 from that plant. Just got done removing the evil red gunk from it, and I am pleased with the overall condition of the rifle. the wood is a little beat, but the bore and the mechanicals are in near perfect shape.
Will post a range report sometime down the road, but for now, it's time to post some pictures.
Is it better to do the right thing for the wrong reason, or to do the wrong thing for the right reason? If you do the wrong thing for the right reason, is it still the wrong thing?
Si vis pacem para bellum.
There are two ways of doing something. Right and again.
If you can't be good, be great at it.
