Just took my recoil spring off the rod & tube for the first time ever. Is this normal?

Thanks man, That is a VZ-58 Stock with the proper angle.. When I fold the stock it is even with the receiver and does not hang low.

Started looking into refinishing my ugly wood furniture about 2 weeks ago, found on pafoa about a guy who used food coloring to give his ak that classic russian red look so i decided to give it a go since i am just going to modernize mine if it does come out to my liking. Took a little over a week to properly "stain" or "dye" the wood and then put 6-8 coats of poly on. Very surprised with the out come and that the food coloring actually worked

Good work, id like to see some close ups. Any trouble along the way you could give advice to others to avoid?

I'll get some close ups tonight. To make it fast and easier make sure the prep sanding is the best you can make it. After each coat of color is dry wash the wood of and let dry, I had some bleeding issues when I went to apply the wipe on poly but after I got the excess out it work perfect
