Anyone else have any problems with yugo sks not ejecting the empty shell after firing?? And yes its clean, the carrier isn't scuffed up or anything and the ammo is cheap hollow points but my other yugo fires the same ammo with no problems.. I did go ahead and get two new gas valve to replace the old ones but haven't tried it yet.. If you know of anything else let me know.. thanks..

I dont know if it has been discussed but it could be a bad gas tube piston, a bad gas tube or both.
remove the gas tube, leave the piston in the tube, place your thumb over the front of the gas tube then turn up vertical the rod should fall slowly due to suction created by your thumb over the tube if it falls fast then the tube has no suction which would indicate one of the two or both need replacing.

My piston has to be pushed in & does not slide freely. Have not fired it yet. I think I wanna replace the complete gas system. I noticed it after I installed my ATI stock.

The wood stock is of course before, ATI Strikeforce adjustable & folding stock is after. Think I may need new gas system.

you might want to test fire the gun before deciding it needs a new gas system.
it may be that the tube needs a good cleaning.
if you do decide to get a new tube and piston then check out Tapco they have a good system and the piston is stainless.

Took my sks out to see how it acts with the piston not sliding freely. But first I sanded inside of gas tude a lil cause it was a lil gritty. Didn't sand much just enough to smooth it a lil. Still didn't slide but was better than it was. So I said wth & fired it off. It cycles flawlessly. Thing is, my hand guard is od green or olive drab & I can't get the pin out to Change it to black or desert tan. Gotta love it lol

removing the pin that holds the upper fore end on the gas tube is the hardest thing to get off when replacing a stock.
if you have a drill press you can drill the head of the rivet off then drive it out with a pin punch easily. if that dont work you can drill the rivet out with a small drill bit then it should knock out with a pin punch.
