Default AK model and serial number question

I am looking at a Romak 1-05XXX-99 . Its really not in great shape by any means , Light surface rust , bluing worn badly on receiver but I want a beater AK and it is a decent deal , 4 / 10 rd single stack mags , gun runs fine but looks like total hell . I would be giving $300 for it on a trade deal . I honestly know very little about the variants of the AKs , decent deal or not ? I figured I could always clean it up and duracoat it . They make a romak 1 romak 2 and romac 991 I dont know whats what to be honest with you or what better ? Im a AR guy just looking for a another caliber junker that runs
If that not a great deal I have the same trade offer for a molested SKS crapco stock , front sight and bayo lug removed but it does have the scope mount and a 4X scope , good looking rifle and shoots great but just very well molested .

I'd save the money and put it on a AK type that already runs standard AK mags.

$300.00 is a steal today, and hi-capping is easy. Not easy;
A) Still finding hicap mags
B) Still finding an affordable WASR

You are 2 weeks too late.
In a victim nation, a classroom full of dead children is morally superior to a teacher holding a smoking gun knowing she just protected her students.
