Default AK gas piston pin broken

Hey guys,

Somehow my gas piston pin came lose and broke off while I was at the range yesterday. Can I just buy a new one and slip it in? It looks like it has to be pounded in and sanded down in a youtube video I saw. Anyone else have this issue. What can I do>>

Thanks guys

I would THINK that you should be able to use a brass hammer and tap a new pin in from the other side until it has pushed the old pin out. It's been so long since I had to take an AK down I don't remember if the pins are tapered or not, if so, then you'll have to use a punch to push the old pin out first, then push the replacement pin in IF the old pin is broken off on the small end.

the old pin fell out. Im just wondering if a new pin just slides in or if it has to be pounded in and then shaved down.
