Probably just the flash hider. Barrel could be junk too. I'd probably pass, unless it was so cheap I could bring it to an ffl and profit.

Welding on a flashhider for any gun can often irretrievably ruin a barrel. Even when done right it does damage to the barrel. I would skip it. Not saying thats the problem just a possibility.

Keyholing can also be caused by improper bullet weights for the rifling twist, improper diameter bullets (shooting .308 bullets out of a .311 bore in the case of 7.62x39), or improper speed. This issues can arise from poor quality out of spec ammo or someone new to handloading.

Does it shoot the 7.62x39 (AK47) or the 5.45x39 (AK74)?
If it is the AK74 5.45x39 I would defiantly PASS there has been a bunch of bad ones made & I wouldn't want one.

But if you are looking for a project to rebuild you could look at it like buying a kit with ammo, but not at that price.

Yes I had the problem. The barrel is damaged and needs to be replaced.

I would not pass on an AK-74 there great weapons and the rounds are cheaper and deadlier, if your using 7n6 ammo that is.
