Looking at buying an AK this month(or a Kimber1911) and was looking for some education on AK's and which AK's are best(brand/country) and which I should defiantly steer clear of. I am open to buying an older or newer weapon so, fire away.. :)
I've always been a hand gun guy and most of the long guns I own were my grandfathers guns. I'm sorry if this topic has been beat to death but would def appreciate guidance. Thanks guys...! |
Also interested...especially in 5.45mm models.

Century AKs are hit and miss, the newer ones are nice, the old ones can have issues.
Arsenal is one of the best but more expensive. Now, with all this craziness going on, you will pay double. I would wither wait it out or buy an SKS. |

I saw some a week or so ago around Ft. Bragg for around $800, of course they were used and I was not in the market then so I'm not sure of the brand. |

I have a Century M74 (AK74 variant) in 5.45x39 it's a pretty nice rifle. It was inexpensive in September 2012 when I got it but you're going to have a though time finding any AK's at a reasonable price for at least the next few months. As for the SKS I love my Russian made one. Very few firearms are a fun to shoot as an SKS in my opinion.

We have a gun/knife show every 3months and I wanna have my info and ducks in a row if it comes down to that. |
Might just cost you a bit more however unfairly because of the price-gauging effect. I'd wait a while longer until the fervor dies down.
In my own opinion, I find the older makes quite dependable and well-built. |
