Advice on buying

There is a Norinco SKS on sale near me for $179. There is no bayonet (don't really need to stab anything) and the stock looks to be well used, however everything else looks good. Advice? Buy or not to buy?

2hot,

That is a fairly good price if the condition of the metal parts of the weapon look like they are in good shape. You can always refinish the stock or get a new one for it with no problem. Usually in todays market one in good condition is running from around $290 up. They are fun to shoot and you can certainly find some less than expensive ammo for them. Be sure it feeds properly or get an agreement.
Have fun if you pick it up!

I am just looking for a decently accurate truck gun. Anyone else with opinions?

Can't beat a M44. Tough and cheap

I already own a Mosin nagant, and a M44 runs $150 and I found an SKS for $179.

You should'nt pay more than 100$ for any mosin. But since you already have one what else could you want? :) Sks's are fine, but the more parts the more that can go wrong.

I bought my SKS more to collect than to shoot. After shooting it,

I shoot it now more than anything else. A lot of fun.

I enjoy combloc surplus . The built-in Bayonets and cleaning rods are

a great part of the attraction, to me.

I guess as long as the bayo mount is still there, and you can bolt

it on later, it's fine.

Can't go wrong with either of those.bought mine in Ohio.sks 299.MN 91/30 for 90.been stationed in Virginia for a year and still haven't shot them!!!!

A CHICOM SKS for under $200.00 is a fine price. It would really be great if it was all numbers-matching parts with the numbers-matching stock - the spike bayo and nut/bolt can always be added.

(I'd bet dollars to donuts that it once had a bayo - but some nimrod likely removed it in fear of 922 - as gazillions were imported prior to 1989.)

Once you shoot an SKS you'll be a convert for life. Even if the wood was beyond hope and you had to do the TAPCO tactical stock swap or even a bullpup - you'll still be ahead.

179? Thats an awesome price. Norincos are my favorite. Slap a Tapco stock on it or refinish the original one. Buy it or tell me where this seller is and I'll buy it. Muhahahah.
