Maybe you weren't paying attention to the specs, yes, if you saturate

the area with massed fire, 1100 meters will produce fatalities. This

doesn't mean, in general terms, that you can successfully hit a specific

target at 1100 meters with the round on a regular basis from a cold shot,

with a military surplus rifle.

Just that if you are downrange 1100 meters, and a round hits you,

it could be fatal. No inherent accuracy is implied in these statistics.

So, YES, even if you misinterpreted them, I took them " for what it is."

Lol can we all agree Red Jacket was a little vague and misleading about there "1000 yd AK" and a saiga/ak in .308 is not the best choice for a 1000 rd rifle???!!!

Hey hey hey, simmer down princess. You missed the point completely. All I stated is that the 7.62 nato round is considered lethal by the military out to the range of 1100m. Weather you or me or anyone else can shoot (cold bore or not) accurately that far or not has nothing to do with what I stated.

I do believe I said I'd give them a

call, not him a call.

As in all the "Army and Marine snipers" who

made a cold-shot kill,(means one shot) in excess of 999 yards, 7.62 NATO

round.

You may find this is a fairly short and exclusive list.

Knock yourself out...

I'll bet RJ may be willing to let that rifle go at a fair price, BTW.
And fyi gilliland is on that list...why I brought it up. 1250m...~1375y. Ill give you one thing. I don't know if you can consider any shot in ramadi cold bore lol

What list?

All one name on a piece

of paper constitutes is

a piece of paper .

Aw yanno, what are we talking

about here, we're in the AK section

discussing the feasibility of a questionable

modification, and we're arguing about .308 ballistics?

Here's what, I went into the wee hours last night,

and you're right. I'm sorry, what was I thinking.

I finally contacted STSGT Bernie Neill, Army, retired,

claims that not only was he killing Congs from 1000 yard

cold shots, through the head, with a standard issue M14,

but if you put a few NATO rounds in with your dirty socks

at night, they come out fresh, and dry enough to finish your

patrol.

I also spoke, via internet, with Lieutenant Brad Chomski, USMC

retired. Says that not only did he kill bogeys with the .308 at 1000

yards, cold shot, but guys in his company used to shoot soda

cans at 600 yards +, holding the AR10 single-handed, to win beer money.

The .308 NATO round is

obviously better than the 300 Win Mag, 338 Lapua, and

the 375 H&H combined. My bad.

The TM states 1000 meters for the M40A1 on a point target. It is the same for the M27. Plus the Corps. is testing new calibers for the M40A4.
With the way it looks they might take the 6.5x47 Lapua. The army's M27 is a long action 700 with the standard chambering in 7.62 NATO, but can be changed to the 300 Win mag or the 338 lapua based off of mission needs.
