I'd still prefer the 338 Lapua. But that's just me.

I do know that there are much better choices out but when you look at it, both the 30/06 and the 308 loaded with the standard 168 gr bullet will have the same performance.
Both rounds for the military were loaded with the 168 gr bullet to 2700 fps. So how is the 308 lesser then the 30/06?
They do the same thing in there military loading.

Besides, something like a 6.5/06 or a 264 WIN Mag would be best as a sniper round. It shots flatter the most anything out there.

Mmmm, I don't know. IMHO, he's invented the pet rock of guns. (But I don't think he'll sell as many.) Seriously, what would the price tag on this thing be? And how many people would be willing to fork over the dough for it? And, again IMHO, it's just silly.

You sure Jim isn't going to say he used .308 because that's what

he was provided with by the Armed Forces? Yeah, the Marines "look at the

7.62 NATO as a 1000 yrd round" because they're told to.

And many times they seek something better for LD shooting, anyway.

No offense, but maybe this Red Jacket rifle is just your ticket...

Well, to be fair, I didn't do any homework, I'm sure there are more out there. I just threw that out there because I was in ramadi when he made that shot so it came to mind really quick.

I don't know, you're the one that said you were gonna give him a call. Let me know what he says lol

I will say one thing on the topic and leave it at this. The maximum effective range of the 7.62 nato round as regarded by the army is 1100m with the maximum range being 3725m. So, take that for what it is.

Re-read the post, there, lipstick.

Correct me if I'm wrong,

(hell, you correct me when I'm right)

I do believe I said I'd give them a

call, not him a call.

As in all the "Army and Marine snipers" who

made a cold-shot kill,(means one shot) in excess of 999 yards, 7.62 NATO

round.

You may find this is a fairly short and exclusive list.

Knock yourself out...

I'll bet RJ may be willing to let that rifle go at a fair price, BTW.
