Default Where has all the (reasonably priced) ammo gone?

It seems crazy to think it, but it can easily be so.
It might be my imagination or is it mostly "higher end" 22lr that seems to be out there? What happened to the "plinking, target stuff"? Maybe lower end stuff was the "loss leader" ammo, and they figured out they could make enough money selling the more high end 22lr match grade rounds. Seems also, it's mostly Able Ammo and Cheaper than Dirt have the highest price/high end 22lr ammunition. Maybe it's still the hording mode we're still in. Who really knows?

This too shall (eventually) pass.

johnr1943 ......
This insane issue is being looked into by a few Congressmen, but this will take some time.

Sam78 .......
Remember . . . . .WalMart is a distributor as well as a retailer. That means they get their ammo directly from the manufacturers. The reason gunshops have no ammo, is because our government is purchasing it from other distributors - who now have almost nothing left to distribute.

The Walmart app has let me down to many times or they are lying to me!!!. I've called every time it says a local Walmart has ammo in stock and they tell me NO.

All of our Wal-Marts will tell you what they expect to receive, that night, over the phone or in person.
I am convinced that some folks that line up at 0330, when the ammo comes out at 0530 are reselling it. Whatever. Last week, 8 boxes of 250 rnd UMC 9mm was coming in. I got there about 0500. There were 7 folks in front of me. The first guy got 3. The 2nd guy got 3. the 2nd guy's wife got 1 and 2 .45 ACP. The 4th guy got the last box.
I really think Wal_Mart should limit it to 200 rounds or 3 boxes, whichever comes first, Think about .223 or 7.62. Three boxes gets you 60 rounds. While three boxes of 250 rnd UMC gets you 750 rounds. I know its a good attempt at trying to be fair. I think they just didn't put much thought into it.

In the last week I've scored two 100 rnd boxes of WWB .40 & a box of Tula .223 (at $5.27! They had 4, but I wanted the .40 more), and three boxes of Tula 9mm ($10.83! That's .23¢ a round!).

I can't seem to catch any .22LR, tho. What is it with .22LR? Is it not being produced as much as other calibers? Is it more sought after, because it cannot be reloaded? Is it just hoaded and sought after more than any other caliber?
The search continues...
How often does Walmart receive shipments? I'm in need off 9mm. Just bought my first 9mm pistol and no ammo to shoot her give me the scoops bro!

Remember when it pops up as "in stock", that usually means it will be on that night's truck coming in. You will know before the workers do. At my store, the manager wheels it out around 7am the next morning

If people were not hoarding there would be ample supplies. People who do not own firearms are buying up ammo and supplies hoping to make a profit. They are buying firearms and reloading supplies as fast as they can. Greedy employees who are poorly paid a China mart are making a buck on the side. I really doubt the government buying ammo is having as much impact as the greed.
