UPDATE!!

I just received a call from the weekend store manager I dealt with last weekend. They apparently are taking this complaint seriously. It's also the first complaint they've had (at their store). Long story short (as I understand it), they did go back to the supplier who said there some boxes that were sent out and some were to come to the store, however it never made it on the truck. So that's been escalated. They are also doing some other cross-check printout from now on to verify everything that was supposed to be shipped is on the trucks. She understood this isn't like missing dish towels and are taking it seriously to find out what happened. I told her this isn't an isolated incident and there are reports of this occurring across the country. But people are also having success in finding ammo with the app too, so it's not like it's an epidemic, but missing ammo is missing ammo. I asked whether this was being escalated company wide? At this point she doesn't think so, but the investigation could change that.

Bottom line is if I hadn't complained, they would likely have never known. So if you're confident that the app shows it's in supposed to be NEWLY in stock (such as a change in the past 24-hours), the store doesn't have it but their bar code scan shows it's supposed to be in stock as well and they can't find it in back, I think it's well worth a polite call to corporate to document your complaint and start an investigation. There's obviously people on-line and at gun shows that have stockpiles of ammo they must be getting from somewhere, who are charging and making huge profits.

However I don't want to just pick on WalMart - I'm sure this is happening in other stores that don't show on-line inventory. The inventory app has been very beneficial for shopping otherwise, and I hope they don't d/c that feature but rather fix the problem.

Cool, good job! Where did you get that app from? Do you have a link?

Android or Apple stores. Android version is free, not sure on the Apple.

they did go back to the supplier
Just out of curiosity, I wonder what she meant about that? Walmart is it's own distributor. They have giant warehouses that manufacturers ship to, and they distribute to the stores. Via their own trucking fleet. A store manager wouldn't be talking to a manufacturer........

No idea. I tried to relate exactly what she said, but she could have said/meant the distribution center. Wasn't sure if there is just one central distribution center or they have satellite centers around the country off the main.

If I understand it correctly, the stuff is shipped directly from the manufacturer to their regional diet. centers, and from there to the stores. I know someone @ Walmart who in that area of operations, I'll ask.
