Default Would the HP make a good IDPA handgun?

I used to shoot IPSC and USPSA, but never IDPA.

Would the HP make a decent 1st time out firearm for IDPA?

I would assume it would be great, not as good as a 1911 or a 2011, but pretty good.

Thought I may try it. With nylon holster and cheapo mag holders.

I assume it would be great, just not a traditional choice.
