I have several rifles from bolt action to semi autos,as a hunter I will have to say my Remington 700 bdl 7mm rem mag. cradled in a HS Precision sporter stock on a aluminum bedding, and crowned with a Leupold VXIII 4.5-14X50 LR 30mm tube w/Illuminated reticle.
I've had this rifle so long it has a very slick action, fine trigger, and shoots true everytime. In fact the 25 years i've been using this rifle it has accounted for 2 elk, countless numbers of whitetail, and to date i've never lost a wounded animal with the rifle.
So it's right there at the top of the list.

I am like Jon, if I did not like them they would not be in my safes. The one that is above the others for it's intended purpose is my 1943 M46a Husqvarna 9.3x57. Like Cottons 8x57 it is a commercail '96 receiver.
If a scoped hunter was needed, it would depend on the game. Still love the old Savage 110 in 7mmRem Mag, but for more practical hunting in New England My 1962 M1600 Husqvarna in 6.5x55 or 1955 Husqvarna 640 in 8x57 do the trick. The 1st is a small ring '98 and the latter a large ring '98.
For Military rifles nothing beats my 1945 DOU.

It may be the only one Diane Feinstein will let you keep! Just be careful, and don't shoot your eye out.

Guns? What guns? Oh, I haven't seen those since I left my garage door open one night by mistake.
