Hmm... I voted for the MP44 (Used to own an MP43) because of the popularity withe the troops that carried one (They were used as late as a few years ago in Yugoslavia), but the M1 Garand was only about 1/1000th of a tic behind.

Really need to to break it down in platforms to be fair, or I might choose Sherman.

A man who has nothing which he cares more about than his own personal safety is a miserable creature, and has no chance of being free unless he is made free and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself" John Stuart Mill

The Garand turned the tide for American infantrymen in both theaters of combat during WWII and set the standard for the new combat rifle; both Japanese and Germans sought them on the battlefield. That should say it all.

One of each, multiples of some! I'd like to own several service grade Garands!
People get the government they deserve.

Default Lee-Enfield

Growing up in the 1960's the first centerfire rifle I ever shot was a
Lee-Enfield. And since then I have been partial to the Lee-Enfield and have 5Lee-Enfields in my Safe at this time. I prefere the No.4 over the No.1MKIII, but have both.

again what everyone has stated.....the M1, but from what I understand from WW2 Marines, nothing was equal to the BAR, maybe if it had a 30 or 35 round magazine and was more available it would be numero uno.
