Why does a 30-30 need a heavy platform? The Mdl. 94 was made well after scopes were in use. The whole idea of the Mdl.94 was a small flat carbine that was at home in the saddle or in the hands of a woods runner. I doubt very much that the Micro-Groove barrels were more accurate than the hammer forged Winchester barrels. The facts are that the over-sized forcing cones in Marlin barrels were notoriously inaccurate. The Heavy barreled Sako-Marlin target rifles with Micro-Groove barrels were a market failure. Winchester produced some Mdl.92 .44 and .357 Micro-Groove barrels for the Browning 92 Carbines produced in Japan. If you reload for these rifles and cast bullets it takes a special mold.
