I have two Winchester 94 30-30s, one Marlin 336 w/ 4X scipe 30-30 and two Scope sited Savage 99s , 300 Savage and a 308 Winchester . My 99s are far more accurate so I don't use the 30-30 rifles. I d not tell anyone to get a 30-30 ,try finding a 99, 243,308, or 35 caliber.

true, but tell me the last time you saw a 94 shoot a group like this. I still don't believe my 30-30 lever gun, using federal 150 gr. ammo, could do this. the 4 shots touching are out of the last 5 shots fired from a 20 round box, #1 hit on the edge of the green, I pulled #2 down at 5 o'clock & the last 3 were the rest of that ragged hole. distance was 100 yards with a 4 power scope.

I'm still convinced that's some sort of fluke or blind luck, I'm not usually a good enough shot to do that but there it was on the paper

And it would be a Mossberg, not a Win95.

Cabelas library is always fun to visit. There are even some priced reasonably(1). My biggest problem is that some of them are more obscure calibers vs the 30-30. I would definitely want the 30-30 for a shooter.

Although I reload, I still like the availability of ammo / cases for the 30-30

1. I would make sure I have a laptop or useable smartphone for some research tho' before plunking down the 4473

What makes you think other scope sighted rifles would not shoot a group. One group proves you were lucky. If this is repeatable 10 times you would have a case.

good point. I'm sure if I set the target at 50 yards I couldn't replicate it 10 times. doesn't mean the rifle can, doesn't mean it can't.

I was hoping to show the "cheap" Mossberg is a viable option for a good 30-30 lever gun

Why try to compare a Mossberg to a Winchester? Just state you like your Mossberg and move on.

....I like my Mossberg...

in all honesty, based on the couple Winchester 94's I've fired, I'd say they are very comparable guns regardless of price.

if price is a factor, the Mossberg comes out ahead.

That'a boy. Now you understand posting on the forum. The next time I am in Bismarck we will have a drink at the Elks Club.

Ill ad to the model 94 love. My only inheritance was one from the last of my grandfathers rifles. Grew up shooting it. Loved the feel of every round fired. My grandmother would slaughter rabbits out of the back of the truck with it all night according to my dad.
I took this rock chuck through a bush a couple years ago. The accuracy of this rifle amazes me.

I do have a love affair with it I must admit. It is my favorite gun by far. imageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1392288207.561558.jpg

I'm not sure what is going on in this photo but that's the gun anyway.

Agree on the 99's accuracy and that caliber hunt
Guess 9 out of 10 were made in 300
