The love is spreading for the greatest rifle ever made. Ever ever ever ever. F$&@ing ever. (My completely unbiased opinion, of course. All in the name, right?;))
My own brother made a sweet find and picked one up down in Salt Lake for $500!!! My own good buddy has one on layaway down in Salt Lick (ya, I said lick, what of it?) The love is spreading!!! Glad to see there are still a few out there that appreciate hand built guns. I have collected, researched and shot this model for 40 years now. I may not concur it is the best ever but it sure rates VERY high on the list.

7mm rem mag with a Leopold 3-9x50, Hogue overmolded stock and a cheap bi-pod, and yes, a model 70 is the best rifle ever made! In my opinion

i won't go so far as to the best, but i will grant this, definately at the top of the list of the best bolt action rifle. proven design, excellent reputation for accuracy and well made. it has been one of my favorites for many years and will be always in my list of one of the best bolt action rifle designs ever produced. yes the M70 is and will always be timeless.

Model70, those are some good looking rifles. be very proud to own them, i would! myself, i am partial to any well built bolt action rifle. i consider the Winchester M70 to be one of the fore runners of the modern bolt action rifle and a design that is iconic and enduring. it's design helped bring the bolt action rifle into the modern age and has been a standard which many others are compared to. enjoy them and shoot them often.

Ya nothing like a good addiction. I'd have more, but the wife won't let me. :( I'd really love to get my hands on a .375 H&H and a .220 Swift, but the ultimate would be the .264.
I loved it when I saw they were chambering the .264 new for 2012. Only in the sporter and featherweights, but still cool. I don't know that I'll ever find a pre-64, but I'm saving up now for when they start chambering for it in the supergrade. |
Since you brought up the 2012s, how do they stack up to their predecessors, accuracy, fit finish???
