Default Winchester model 70 30-06 springfield

This rifle was offered to me plus cash towards a 1993 Yamaha Waverunner. It is a Winchester model 70 30-06 springfield single shot bolt action with a plastic stock perhaps? The owner believes it is worth $500.00, so i ask all of you is this accurate? He did bring ammo for a test fire and it shot 4 rounds 5" apart at 60 yards.

It could be. Take a look at these Model 70's on gunbroker and see how it compares. Just don't forget that many of the asking prices on GB are not going to be met.

The link won't work for me. Go to GB and take a look at similar rifles. There's a ton of Model 70's in '06 there.

I can guarantee you it's not a single shot it's a blind magazine rifle. Most probably it's a pushfeed Model 70 sold under the model name Black Shadow before Winchester returned to the "classic" controled feed action. When they discontinued them a few years ago WalMarts was selling them for about $300. It's a nice basic hunting rifle but certainly not worth $500.
