This was my grandfathers, and i'm not sure how he got it. It looks like its in decent shape, but the magazine tube and bracket do not look original. There is also a small piece of the bolt missing at the top along with the sights. Just seeing if anyone can tell me what they think of the condition. Thanks for the help.

It's probably worth more as a family heirloom with the sights missing and the damage.

The gun appears to be in good shape other than the bolt. Looking at my 92 if the damage doesn't extend down the case head area it's pretty close. My question would be what caused it? And is there any damage to the chamber or other internal damage? The sights and bolt can be replaced. Numrich may have the bolt and sights can be found at a number of places. Welcome to Numrich Gun Parts Corp. The magazine tube and hanger are original to the gun. The one you have is a rifle. The carbine has a round barrel with a front barrel band and no fore end cap.

The Chamber and Bore are in great shape, and shoots well. Its 32/20 in caliber i forgot to put that. Thanks for the info.

Hello AUMatt,

I know your post is real old but I can probably help you. I am researching the Model 1892 rifles and have cataloged over 3080 rifles to date.

I will need the full serial number and an image of the caliber stamp and the barrel address. I can then tell you quite precisely when the rifle was made and how it fits into the changes made during production.

The wood on your gun has been sanded and refinished at some time. That is why it fits poorly where the stock and receiver join. Obviously both the front and rear sights are missing. The bluing is pretty much gone so the rifle is well below what most collectors are looking for.
