Winchester 94 30-30

Was at the gun store today and saw a used 70's model 94 in 30-30 for 299.95. Had some were on the receiver but the stock was still very nice and the action felt very smooth. Was wondering if this was a good deal at all?

They book for $150@60% to $450@100%.

I don`t think I would have let that get away................not for no $300.

IMO, yes pretty decent price, not the cheapest, but definately not inflated. see if they will haggle, if they won't haggle, then go the $299, it should be worth it in the long run.

Cool thanks for the input guys. Definitely gonna see if I can haggle with them and get it down to 250 or something.
Now would the wear on the receiver be hard to fix? I was thinking I could polish it all down and have it reblued.

Maybe. Winchester used some strange steel in the receivers on later 94's.
Tends to "freckle" rather easily, and when you try to have it re-blued there
is a good chance it will come out plum or purple instead of blue or black.

It's probably honest wear--and rebluing it won't do the value any good at all.

Yes freckle describes it well as for how the wear looked. I just dont want it to get worse and rust etc.

Love my 94! I have a 1967.

I would got for it, my dad has one I like it better then a marlin any day, simple, reliable, and pretty damn fun to shoot.

my suggestion would be not to reblue it, but rather get some Kano Kroil and some very fine steel wool and polish it and just apply some good gun oil to the surfaces.
