are the winchester 1892 lever action worth there money
 

I am asking if the winchester 1892 are worth there money that they are selling today

Old ones or brand new? I'd pay for an old one, but the new ones are made in Japan.

as a shooter i dont like top eject lever guns its why i opted for a marlin 1895.

As acollector piece its all about the individual gun and its condition.

The older ones yes. Collector item. But it all depends on the person. I personally love the old winchesters. Not that big on the newer models.

Rossi bought all the old Winchester patents and are now producing them. When you first get one they are stiff but accurate. Steve Young (SASS) has a video how to fix the problem and when your done they're one of the smoothest lever guns you'll ever shoot. Mine is so smooth and accurate I can keep a spinner target spinning at 25 yards, I love my Model '92 in .38/.357 I even put a big loop on it and they run about $300.

The 1892 Winchester action was/is the pinnacle of lever action design and craftsmanship.

I have an EMF Hartford (Rossi) that is slick and very accurate. I see it is no longer made in .44-40. To bad. W/ that 24" barrel it really is a perfect combination. It is dirt cheap to reload for. They actually run in the $600.00 range now. I love the 12 round mag and the fact that you can fire a few rounds and pop 2 more in the mag almost as fast. They were the original assault rifles (not excluding the '73) With the 24" barrel it adds about 500fps to velosity data.
It is nothing I would want to be 100 yards in front of.

So are Weatherby Vangaurds and Brownings.
There are some features that newer ones have I don't care for. A safety on the bolt is a really dumb idea. Mine has no safety as it should be.
