I just started reloading, have not set up the .223 yet... mainly because I don't have a good place to shoot a rifle

I have a 200 rnds of 32WS and have saved all the brass. That rifle hasn't been shot in two years, and don't know when I'll shoot it next.

32WS is an interesting round. Not sure I understand why it didn't take off, because if I understand correctly it has better ballastics then 30/30

it fell out of favor simply because it didn't offer a lot advantages over the 30-30. when loaded with the same weight bullets, the 32 W.S. only offers about 100-150 fps velocity over the 30-30 and not a huge difference in longer distances it can be effectively used at as well. the 32 W.S. just didn't offer anything that the 30-30 couldn't already do just as well.

but on a side not, i read an article last year, that just about every round of 32 W.S. that Hornady sells is sold before it leaves the factory. so people are shooting the ones they own.

i already have a Winchester in 30-30, but i also have a set of old RCBS dies in 32 W.S. that i inherited from my father, so hence my reason for wanting one!

From what I have gathered in researching the 94, I would either buy a pre 1964 or an XTR and nothing in between. The XTR will be marked and you would have to go by the serial number for the pre 64's. Anyone know the cut off?
